Mrs. Yvonne T. Calicchia, 76, of 163 Prospect Ave. Ilion, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 11, 2003 at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born on November 17, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Philip and Marguerite (LeCouffe) DeGouff. Her family had moved to Herkimer and Yvonne went on to graduate with Herkimer High School, Class of 1944. She later attended Utica School of Commerce. She was united in marriage with George M. Calicchia on July 23, 1955 at St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer. The couple had resided in Ilion for many years. Yvonne had worked for many years with Junkett Brand Foods in Little Falls with the Accounting Department. She also had worked with the former Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Frankfort and later with the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion where she was a communicant. She worked passionately there in helping others and with church activities. She held various positions with church committees, and had served as an Ecumenical minister to the homebound. She was devoted to her family and her unselfish and kind nature will forever be remembered. She is survived by her beloved husband, George; her seven children: Marie Tata and her husband David of Utica; Carol Lennon and her husband David of Ilion; Kathy DeLuca and her husband Tony of Frankfort; Jane North and her husband Peter of Ilion; Michael Calicchia and his wife Anne of Albany; Ann Frank and her husband Jon of Ilion; and Thomas Calicchia of Ilion; two sisters: Isabel DeGouff of Mohawk; and Marguerite Simmons and her husband Charles of Ilion; one brother: Philip DeGouff and his wife Diane of Troutman, North Carolina; 14 Grandchildren: Alyssa, Keri, Gina, and Mariana Tata; Natale and Elizabeth Lennon; Angela and Anthony DeLuca; Jaime, Daniel, and Kelly North; Joshua and Hannah Frank; and Kelsey Calicchia; In Laws: Mary DeGouff of Herkimer; Adeline Frank and Mary Calicchia of Little Falls, and James Francis of Fultonville; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of wonderful neighbors and friends. She was predeceased by a sister: Helena Francis, a brother Francis DeGouff, and two brothers in law: Rocco Calicchia, and Ralph Frank. A mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday morning, November 14, 2003 at 10:00 Am at the Church of the Annunciation, West St. Ilion, with the Rev. Joseph Benintende, Pastor officiating. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery, town of Herkimer, at the convenience of the family. In honor of Yvonne's wishes there will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be considered to: Ilion Ambulance or to a charity of one's choice. Envelopes may be obtained at the mass on Friday or from the Enea Family Funeral Home (894-8000). A special thank you is extended to the Ilion Ambulance, ICU staff and Emergency Room staff of St. Luke's Hospital, Dr. Mattern, Dr. Gian, Dr. Cho, and Dr. Newhauser for the care and compassion offered. Following burial services, a Celebration of Yvonne's life will be held at the Annunciation Parish Center. It is there that the family invites relatives and friends to share in fellowship and remembrance of a wonderful life lived. All arrangements are under the guidance of the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street Between Ilion & Frankfort.
