William "Bill" Palmieri

HERKIMER – Mr. William “Bill” Palmieri, of Herkimer, New York, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side on September 27th, 2024, at the age of 88.
He was born in Herkimer on October 30,1935 and was the son of the late John and Mary (Natale) Palmieri. He attended Herkimer schools and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Palmieri served our country with the United States Army as a member of the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum and was deployed to Germany (1954-1956).
On October 26, 1957, he joined in marriage with Janet Tangorra, at St. Anthony’s Church in Herkimer. They enjoyed 66 wonderful and loving years together. Bill was a very talented brick- layer mason who worked for various construction companies throughout our area. His family was absolutely everything to him and he dedicated his life to those he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; his children, his son, Joseph Palmieri, Sr. and his daughter, Theresa (John) Gaston; his two cherished grandchildren, Joseph Palmieri, Jr. and Alissa Paratore; as well as his great-granddaughter, Alayna Palmieri. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph (Rosemary) Palmieri; and his in-laws, Antoinette Palmieri, Bella Aiello, Michael & Joan Tangorra, Palma & David Calenzo, Elizabeth Tangorra, Harriett Tangorra, Anita Martin, Paul Zito and Kathy & Frank Barrett.
He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Deborah Palmieri; and his siblings, beloved sister, Angelina Marconi, and brothers, Samuel, John, Jr., Albert, Leon and Benjamin Palmieri.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 4th, 2024, at 9:30 AM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer and at 10:00 AM at Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, South Main Street, in Herkimer, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will then take place at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, with the honor of full military recognition being offered. A luncheon will follow.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his calling hours, which will take place on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, from 4PM until 6PM at the funeral home, North Washington Street location and attend the Funeral Services on Friday morning.
Those wishing may consider donations in memory of William Palmieri to Hospice & Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413, or to a charity of one’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
The family of Mr. Palmieri would like to thank both aides, Tiffany and Tammy for the excellent care he received at home. A special thank you to the hospice nurses who also cared for him.
