Mr. William J. Nudo, 77, a longtime resident of Frankfort, and a resident of Mohawk passed away on Thursday afternoon, October 30, 2003 at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Frankfort, on Feb. 19, 1926, and was the son of the late William and Mary (Marine) Nudo. He joined the United States Navy, enlisting in 1944 and attended the US Navy Boston Radio School, graduating a third class Radio Seaman. Bill served his time in the South Pacific Theater until 1946 when he was honorably discharged. Following his tour of duty in the Navy, Bill attended Utica Upper New York State College. He eventually opened a family business named the Club Royale in Frankfort ,which remained in business for over 45 years. During those years, Bill was an active member of the Ilion Elk's Lodge #1444 and served as exalted ruler from 1963 until 1964. He was also a member of the Frankfort V.F.W Post #502, Mohawk American Legion Post #25, and the St. Francis De Paulo Society. Bill was a director of Veteran's Affairs for Herkimer County from 1966-1991. He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 53 years, Helen Alexander, two sons, William (Judy) Nudo, Robert (Jan) Nudo, a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Nudo, two special aunts, Theresa Graves, of Mohawk and Amelia De Clement of Rome, six grandchildren, one great grandson, a sister, Gloria Cole of New Haven, Ct., numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main St. between Frankfort and Ilion (894-8000) on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003 from 5-8 p.m. Bill's funeral will commence on Monday morning, Nov. 3, 2003 at 9:15 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10 am from Blessed Sacrament Church, Main St., Mohawk where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, pastor, emeritus. Committal will be held in All Souls' Chapel (Mt. Olivet Cemetery), Frankfort. In lieu of flowers, all memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church or to Hospice Care, Inc., envelopes are available at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Frankfort/Ilion. The following organizations are asked to meet in the Enea Family Funeral Home on Sunday to conduct their services. The llion Elk's Lodge #1444 at 5:30 p.m., the Mohawk American Legion Post # 25 at 6 p.m., the St. Francis De Paulo Society at 6:30 p.m. and the Frankfort V.F.W.
