MOHAWK – Mr. William I. Kaples, age 61, of Mohawk, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday February 4, 2025, at Wynn Hospital.
Bill was born in Ilion Hospital on June 26, 1963, to Joyce and William Kaples. He was a lifelong resident of Mohawk and graduated from Mohawk High School in 1983.
William Kaples and Christy Janes united in marriage on August 26, 2006, at the Historic Fort Herkimer Church. He was an avid painter and doing crafts. He enjoyed collecting action figurines, bobbleheads, and monster cereals. He also enjoyed decorating cakes and cookies.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Joyce and William Kaples, and father-in-law, Thomas Janes.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Christy Kapes and his son, Johnathen Kaples. his In-Laws, Deborah and Ronald DeRocher, sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Chris Matthie, Andrea and Jim Rende, Jessica and Daryl O’Conner, Tracy DeRocher, Terri and John Cronin, and three siblings. Also, several nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn and Andrew Matthie, Faith, Jarred Price, Jaide and Hope Rende, Thomas, Ethan, and Paige O’Conner, Kara and Kaylee Broderson, Gabriel DeRocher, and William Cronin.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes there will be no services but there will be a celebration of life at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Herkimer County Renal Center in William’s name. The family would like to send their greatest gratitude to the staff of the Renal Center in Herkimer for their caring and support they have shown us through the years.
