ILION - William H. Childs, 59, of Ilion, NY passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Ellis Hospital, in Schenectady, New York, with his mother and brother Mark at his side. It was unexpected.
He was born in Herkimer on June 20, 1962, a son to James and Mary (Myers) Childs and graduated from Mohawk School and received an associate degree from HCCC and served in the U.S Army. He loved the Buffalo Bills and talking football. He loved stock cars/ dirt races local and traveling to different tracks. His favorite driver Stewart Friesen won the last race he went to. His pride and joy of every day were his grandchildren. He loved talking about them any chance he had and spending time with them.
His father, James, predeceased him. He is survived by his mother, Mary Childs, of Mohawk; brothers: James and Mary Childs, of Mohawk, Mark and Mary Childs, of Syracuse; many nieces and nephews; children: son, William Childs and Samantha LoCash, of Ilion; grandchildren: Izabella Childs and Gavin LoCash; daughter: Tasha and Sam Smith, of Cameron NY; and grandchildren: Angel and Sammy Smith and son, Zachary Childs, of Ilion; and grandson, Brayden Kelly; and a granddaughter.
Cremation has taken place and there are no services.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Enea Family Funeral Home, Herkimer, NY, Funeral Directors Harry J. Enea, Jr., Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia (315) 866-1011.
