William Edward Boudry, age 65 of Utica (formerly Ilion), passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on May 27, 2026.
William was born October 5, 1960, the son of the late Norman R. Boudry and Patricia A. (Sponburgh) Couchman. He attended Ilion High School, playing Basketball and Tennis, graduating in 1978. William also graduated Mohawk Valley Community College with two Computer Science Associate Degrees in Hardware and in Software.
William loved playing guitar. He learned how to play in high school from his cousin, Gary Sponburgh. He was the original Lead Guitarist for the band, Alpha Centori and several other bands including Triple X and Blitzen. He made a tremendous number of friends and contacts during his music career, too many to mention. William was taught by famous jazz guitarist, Carmen Caramanica, fine-tuning his exceptional guitar skills. William returned the favor to his cousin, Gary, by guiding and teaching guitar to his son, Ryan Sponburgh. Ryan referred to William as, “his uncle, guitar teacher and one of my best friends”.
In addition to music, William worked for PAR Technology for several years as a Systems Repair Technician. He kept himself in exceptional physical shape by playing basketball, bike riding, and running the Boilermaker Road Race. He was also an excellent cook. He spent many holidays cooking for his mother and was especially proud of his homemade pumpkin pies.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia, Herkimer, NY, his daughter, Angel Boudry (Jeff Robinson), grandson, Olin, Utah. Two nephews, Arthur and Patrick Parmer, both of Mohawk, and several cousins and many friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by his father, Norman, and a sister, Dale Boudry.
William was especially grateful for the help he received in his last few months from his cousin, Gregg Sponburgh and friend, Dan Anthony. His family wishes to thank them for their generosity and dedication to making him feel safe and able to leave this earth with no worries.
William had a tremendous love for his family and music. He will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Calling hours will be held at the Enea-Ciaccia Family Funeral Home on July 9, 2026 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm with a funeral service to follow, officiated by Lay Pastor Gregg Sponburgh and Chaplain Walter Plock. Interment will take place July 10, 2026 at Lake View Cemetery in Richfield Springs.
