ILION – Mr. William C. “Bill” Anderson, age 82, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, December 7, 2024, with his beloved daughters by his bedside. His passing occurred in the Albany Household of the Masonic Care Community of CNY where he has received excellent care during this final part of his life’s journey.
Born on March 19, 1942, William was the son of the late Harold and Freida (Stanley) Anderson. His early years were spent growing up in Schuyler and he attended Frankfort-Schuyler High School.
On September 29, 1962, Bill was married to the former Mary Lou Day, and together they spent fifty-seven years in a loving and blessed union until Mary Lou’s passing on April 9, 2020.
Bill was a very hardworking man, and he spent his career at various locales, such as Valley Chuck & Tool, MDS, ICL and finally at CTM Corporation in Frankfort, where he retired as a tool and dye maker.
Through the years, Bill always kept himself active and busy and he enjoyed playing softball, bowling, horseshoes, cornhole, woodworking and hunting. He was a jack of all trades and in the eyes of his beloved daughters, was forever their ‘Billy Superstar!’
Bill is survived by his two beloved daughters, Cynthia Martin and her husband, Michael, and Susan Hartley and Kevin Laymon, all of Ilion; his grandchildren, Deanna Hartley of Florida, Michael Martin Jr. and his wife, Jessica, of Ilion, Breanna Shelanskey and her husband, Kevin, of Ilion and Lauren Hartley of Florida; and his great-grandson and best buddy, Grayson Martin. He also leaves behind his sister, Annie Anderson of Schuyler; his in-laws, Charles and Janet Day, Marilyn Day, Ruth Anderson and Bev Anderson; many nieces and nephews with special mention of Steven Day and Robert Wasyleski; his many neighbors that always kept an eye on him; his Schuyler 10 forever friends; and his special canine companion, Sophie.
Aside from his parents and beloved wife, Mary Lou, Bill was predeceased by his three brothers, Norman, Junior and Arnold; and his in-laws, Bill Day and Jean and George Beck.
Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects to Bill and his family on Wednesday afternoon, December 11, 2024, from 4:00PM – 6:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. A graveside service will be held in the spring at West Schuyler Cemetery, where Bill will be laid to rest beside his wife.
