ILION – William “Bill” M. Anton, age 79, of Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Wynn Hospital, with his loving wife and family by his side.
He was born on March 24, 1947, in Clark Mills, NY, the son of William and Louise (Moda) Anton. Bill attended Clinton Schools and graduated from Clinton High School. Mr. Anton was a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the U.S. Army. Bill married Nancy Bruso, on January 21, 1978, at the Ilion Baptist Church.
He was employed as a Packer and Inventory Clerk at Remington Arms Co., Ilion, for 49 years. Mr. Anton was a member of the Morning Star United Methodist Church, Ilion, Ilion-Frankfort VFW and Am Vets.
Bill enjoyed trains, Disney, Snoopy and Genealogy.
Surviving family members include his wife, Nancy; his brother, Robert “Bob” Anton and his wife, Marianne, of Frankfort; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; his nephew, Jeffrey Leach; and his great niece, Clover Ann Norris.
Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon, Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Morning Star United Methodist Church, 4224 Acme Road, Frankfort (between Ilion and Frankfort) with Pastor Joelle Faulks officiating.

In lieu of flowers, as a token of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Morning Star United Methodist Church, 36 Second Street, Ilion, NY, or American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Ct, Ste 6, Utica, NY 13502-5949. Envelopes will also be available at the Church Service.
Bill’s service arrangements and supervision are entrusted to their Family Funeral Director and long-time close friends of Nancy and the Bruso Family, Don Applegate and his wife, Judy, at Applegate-Day and Enea Family Funeral Home’s original location, at 102 West Street, Ilion, NY 13357 (315-895-7722).
