Virginia S. Wood, age 87, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, formerly of Mohawk and Cedar Lake, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at the William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan.She was born on February 26, 1917 in Long Island, NY, the daughter of Louis F. and Arnoldina (Holtz) Schuster and graduated from Freeport L.I. High School. On September 13, 1942, she was married to Harlan E. Wood at the Richmond Hill Methodist Church. He died on November 20, 1983. Virginia was employed at the U.S. Treasury Dept. and later the New York Stock Exchange. Most recently she was the secretary of the President of Seagram Distillers Co. in New York City. At one time she was a member of the Mohawk United Methodist Church. Virginia and her family resided in Mohawk form 1951 to 1963 coming from Brooklyn. She also spent many of her summers at the Cedar Lake Club in Clayville over the years. Mrs. Wood also resided in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Elizabeth Wood; her granddaughters, Lindsey, Jessica, and Nicole all of Farmington Hills, Michigan; her sister-in-law, Marion Hatt of Utica, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Louis, Howard and Burton Schuster; and one sister, Mildred Combes. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her graveside committal service on Saturday, August 28, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Mohawk Cemetery, John St. entrance in Mohawk, NY with Rev. Robert Wollaber, Co-Pastor of the Mohawk United Methodist Church, officiating. There are no scheduled calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. A large selection of various contribution envelopes will be available at the service. Virginia's immediate family have entrusted all arrangements to the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk, NY. (866-2161).
