MOHAWK – SCHUYLER – Viola “Vi” M. Reska, age 93, formerly of Mohawk and Schuyler, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on February 8, 1932, in Utica, the daughter of Leslie and Ella Tanner, and attended UFA. Viola was married to Walter Reska, on August 22, 1953, in Delason, NY. He passed away in 1975. Mrs. Reska was employed as a CNA, at the Masonic Home, Utica, for 23 years. She was a member of the Mohawk Reformed Church. Vi was a founding member of the Schuyler Ambulance Corp. She taught Sunday School at West Schuyler Methodist Church, and the Mohawk Reformed Church. The Love of her life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving members of her family are her daughter, Anna Conley and her husband, Mark; her 2 sons, Walter Reska and his wife, Denise, and Robert Reska and his wife, Mary; her grandchildren, Mark Conley and his wife, Erin, Peter Conley and his wife, Katherine, Jennifer Dodge and her husband, Charles, Jonathon Reska, Charles Goldstein and his wife, Kayla, Christopher Reska, and Lisa, and Morgan Sheppard and her husband, Tyler; Her great grandchildren, Zoe, Olivia and Tyler Dodge, Briella and C.J. Goldstein, Miguel , and Benjamin Sheppard; her sister, Gloria Graves; her niece, Carol Hershel; and her friends, Sharon Palmer and Bonnie Comes.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Walter; and her sons, John Reska and Michael Reska.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., at the Mohawk Reformed Church, 20 South Otsego St., Mohawk, NY.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 11:00 A.M., at the Mohawk Reformed Church, 20 South Otsego St., Mohawk, NY, with Pastor Brian Engell officiating. Burial will follow at the W. Schuyler Cemetery, Town of Schuyler, NY.
