WHITESBORO/FRANKFORT – Mr. Vincent S. “Vin” Maneen, age 68, left this world on Friday afternoon, December 8, 2023, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, after a brave and prolonged battle with Antiphospholipid Syndrome. Throughout his illness and passing he had the constant love and support of his beloved family and friends at his side.
Born in Ilion on September 26, 1955, Vincent was the son of the late Vincent P. and Arlene J. (Gauthier) Maneen. His childhood years were spent in Frankfort and he graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School with the Class of 1973. He went on to further his education at Utica College where he earned his BS in Accounting in 1977.
Vinny’s career began as an Auditor with Blue Cross where he worked until 1979 before becoming the Controller for Faxton Hospital in Utica; a tenure which lasted ten years. In 1989, at the age of 33, opportunity arose again and Vinny was appointed Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Oneida City Hospital until his retirement in 2013.
On June 11, 1978 Vin was wed to the love of his life, the former Marilyn Zito, at St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort. Their marriage was one filled with love, companionship and togetherness and in Vin’s own words they had “45 years of happily married life.” They stood by one another through it all and Vin was forever thankful to Mar who took such good care of him throughout many illnesses. He wouldn’t have made it this long without her love, devotion and unselfish caring. “I love you, babe!”
Throughout the years, Vin served in many philanthropic positions and was a former board member of the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Frankfort Free Library, American Heart Association and United Iroquois Shared Service Inc. He understood the importance of giving back to his community and was a retired member of the Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department as well as holding a longtime membership with the St. Francis di Paola Society.
Vinny’s life revolved around his family and everything he did was for his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed vacations to Wildwood with his family and trips to Florida with his wife. His greatest joy was the blessing of his beautiful grandchildren whom he absolutely adored and he spent every moment he could with them. He was a steadfast son, brother, uncle and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In his free time, Vin would enjoy a nice game of golf in the After Hours Golf League or an evening of bowling at the former Thurston’s. The laughter that he shared with his wife and close friends on their dinner dates truly exemplified the beauty of life’s simple pleasures.
Not only did Vin lean on his friends and family during trying times, but on his Catholic faith as well. He was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort and served for many years on their finance committee.
His legacy of love will be carried on by those he leaves behind and he is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Marilyn; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Dino Cencetti of Whitesboro; his son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Sara Maneen of Port Chester, NY; and his grandchildren, Nathan, Audrey and Colton Cencetti and Benjamin and Emmy Maneen. He also leaves his brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Mary Maneen of Sherrill, John and Kim Maneen and Richard and Peggy Maneen, all of Frankfort; his in-laws, Paul Zito, Gloria and Anthony Partenza and Linda and Alfred Amendolare, all of Frankfort; many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
He was predeceased by his parents and his in-laws, Bennie and Jane Zito, and his sister-in-law, Elaine Zito.
Vin’s family will gather privately to honor and commemorate his life with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Campus in Utica. For those wishing to do so, please honor Vin and his family by making a memorial contribution to the APS Foundation of America, PO Box 801, LaCrosse, WI 54602-0801 or by visiting
