HERKIMER: Victor "Vic" Altamura, 68, a former Herkimer resident passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at his home in Bellerose, NY with his loving family at his side.



He was born October 10, 1942 in Herkimer, the son of Frank and Rocca Altamura. Victor attended and graduated from local schools. He also attended Entomology School. Mr. Altamura was a US Army Veteran, serving with the COC 24th Combat Engineers and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged on March 30, 1970 after 4 years of service. Victor had owned and operated Alpine Pest Management and while residing in Herkimer, had attended Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church.



Survivors include: his beloved wife Maria Decuzzi-Altamura; his beloved daughters Andrea Vangorder of Oklahoma, Jennifer Altamuro-Birns of Albany, Tracey Altamuro-Pentaleri of Long Island; his cherished grandchildren: Megan Lindsay, Alexis Pentaleri, Joseph Pentaleri, Lilian Pentaleri, and Francesca Birns. He also leaves a brother James Altamuro of Utica, and two sisters Laura Myers of Herkimer and Maryjane Moshelle of Plattsburgh, as well as in-laws, godchildren, friends, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Rocca, father Frank, brothers Mike, Frank, Angelo, Carmen, and sisters Bella and Frances.



Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at 6:00 pm at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY 13350 where military rites will be accorded. Spring Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-6 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family is being served by director Harry J. Enea, Jr.
