LITTLE FALLS – Mr. Thomas R. Baum, age 77, a longtime Milligan Street resident in the city, passed away with his beloved family at his side, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, within the comfort of his home.
Born on January 30, 1947, in Little Falls, New York, he was the son of the late A. Neil and Mary (Gregorin) Baum and grew up locally. He attended Little Falls High School, graduating Class of 1965. Then, having gone on to attend Clarkson University, he graduated with the Class of 1969, the recipient of a bachelor’s degree. He loved to attend Clarkson hockey, men and women and was a season ticket holder right up to this season. Tom was a 46 year member of the Little Falls Elks Lodge #42.
In1987, he was united in marriage to Carol J. Finehout and they shared a blessed union. Traveling was so special to them, to places such as St. Maarten Island annually, Mexico and even Europe. Locally, to our community of Little Falls, Tommy was the President of Empire Fibreglass Products, Inc. Tom and his brother Neil have been working in the fiberglass field since the 50’s and 60’s and now controlled the company. They continued to be innovative and achieve the excellence their father created in Empire Fibreglass Products, Inc. At the end of the day, we look back with a smile upon Tom’s dedication to and love of working, fine cigars, golfing, hunting and fishing. Tom loved being outdoors. He enjoyed walking in the woods or on the beach. He just enjoyed being out in our great environment.
He is survived by his family: his wife, Carol; his brother, Neil “Butch”; his niece and her husband, Karen Baum and Wes Seluka, of Watertown, Massachusetts; his brother-in-law, Robert Taylor, of Cape Cod, Massachusetts; his In-laws, (Carol’s siblings), Peg Streeter, Elizabeth (Robert) West, Jan (Edward) Knapp and Timothy (Joan) Finehout; along with many surviving family, cousins and friends. Tom spent many moments of friendship through the years and his family looks upon this gratefully. Also, the tending loving care offered by hospice and local aides, Cindy, Anne, Sue, Desiree, Karen, Mary and Yvonne, will always be cherished and fondly remembered.
He was predeceased by his parents, A. Neil and Mary; his sister, Dr. Barbara Baum Taylor; and his In-laws, Carolyn Baum and Thomas Finehout; as well as the many loved Golden Retrievers including his favorites, Cinnamon and Magic.
