Thomas C. Abbatecola

March 6, 1952 — August 10, 2025

Frankfort, New York

FRANKFORT - Thomas Carl Abbatecola, 73, entered into eternal peace on August 10th, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

Thomas, fondly known as Tom, was born to Camillo (Carl) and Irene (Cimino) Abbatecola on March 6th, 1952. A lifelong resident of Frankfort, Tom was the epitome of a Frankfort Knight. He attended Herkimer County Community College and had an outstanding and successful career of 26 years working for Carbone Honda in Yorkville, NY.

Tom married the love of his life, Darlene (Balio) Abbatecola on September 14, 1974. Darlene was more than just a wife. The unconditional love they shared allowed Tom to live his days with a devastating Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis in dignity within their own home for close to 14 years. Tom is also survived by his loving children; Angela and Domenico Vecchio of Cassino, Italy; Carlene and Frederick Sanguine of Waxhaw, North Carolina; and Carl Thomas Abbatecola of Clermont, Florida. Tom and Darlene also spent many years fostering children after their own children were grown. Scott Bush, James Hallock and Marcus Anna continued a loving relationship well into adulthood.

Tom’s real pride and joy came from his 4 grandchildren: Joseph Sanguine, Irene Vecchio and husband Gioele Marrocco, Melina Sanguine and Ilaria Vecchio. In addition to his grandchildren, he will become the guardian angel of his soon-to-be great-granddaughter in October. Tom also shared his big love of life and quick-witted jokes with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tom was a lifetime member of the St. Francis Society in Frankfort, NY. As stated earlier, Tom’s career at Carbone Honda was exceptional. He received many awards for his dedication to his customers and the Carbone Honda Family. His greatest accomplishment as a salesman of 26 years was in 2006 when he was awarded the Top 30 Retail Sales Consultants for American Honda. His retail sales volume and sales satisfaction scores are a true testament to his outgoing and loving personality. Once you met him, you loved him.

Tom’s family would like to extend their utmost appreciation to the Frankfort Fire Department and Frankfort Police for their quick response. In addition, the family would like to acknowledge the amazing nurses and staff on the 3rd Floor at Little Falls Hospital. Over the 6 days Tom spent there, the nursing staff went above and beyond not only in consideration of Tom’s care but for Darlene and her 3 children. Their compassion and kindness will never be forgotten.

To honor Tom’s memory, calling hours will be on Monday, August 11th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home located at 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, NY. His beloved friends, co-members of the St. Francis DiPaola Society, are respectfully asked to gather in a body at the funeral home and pay their respects together on Monday evening at 6:30 PM.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025, at 10:15 AM at the funeral home, where prayers of transference will be offered. Then, at 11:00 AM, his Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, South Frankfort Street, Frankfort, NY. The family plot is at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort, and interment there will be the family convenience. Those who wish to join the family after the funeral mass are welcome to the St. Francis Society at 152 Eighth Avenue in Frankfort for a luncheon.
