Mrs. Theresa M. Haynes of Mohawk, beloved wife of Joseph Haynes, entered into eternal rest unexpectedly Sunday evening, July 13, 2003, in Hamilton Hospital. She was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Fort Edward, a daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Etu) Columb. She received her education in Fort Edward schools. She joined in marriage with Joseph Haynes in Hudson Falls in 1962. They enjoyed a wonderful loving union of over 40 years. They have truly enjoyed each others company as well as their shared commitment to their family life. In 1982, Theresa and her husband started Haynes Tool and Die. They were as compatible in running their business as they were in their family life. Prior to founding Haynes Tool and Die they ran Mohawk Harley Davidson, which was a tremendous part of the Haynes' family life. Theresa retired in 1993. Mrs. Haynes was a dedicated family woman, was the matriarch of her family and was a strong and unfailing support who could always be counted on for help or guidance. Her husband, children and grandchildren were the core of her existence and the treasures of her heart. Gifted with a kind and gentle nature, Theresa had a love for people that manifested itself in countless thoughtful and generous ways. Her loved ones will always cherish the remembrance, the example and the inspiration of her wonderful life. She cherished the many close and valued relationships with her family and even treated children that were not hers as if they were her own. She leaves to carry on the legacy of love and commitment, her beloved husband, Joseph of Mohawk; four children, Mark Haynes of Richfield Springs, Marie Joiner of Mohawk, Lee Joseph Haynes and wife Mary of Ilion and Susan Staring and husband George of Mohawk; three brothers, Gyle Etu and wife Arlene of Fort Edward, Thomas Etu and wife Elsie of Fort Edward and Clyde Etu and wife Lorraine of Fort Edward; and a sister, Thelma Gannon of Fort Edward. Her seven cherished grandchildren were truly the love of her life, they are Jason Haynes and Joseph Haynes, who was recently tragically taken from the family which truly left a void in her heart, Benjamin and Matthew Haynes, Allan Palmer, Theresa Vogt and Molly Staring. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a sister-in-law, Loise Sellingham of Queensbury. She also leaves many dear friends. Theresa was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Doyle of Hudson Falls and a special sister-in-law, Caren Haynes. The family will gather privately at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Frankfort and Ilion (894-8000) to say goodbye. Kindly consider honoring Theresa's memory with donations to the Children's Make a Wish Foundation or to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Donations may be made at the funeral home.
