Thelma Homrighaus

Thelma M. Homrighaus, 83, a long time Dolgeville resident, passed away on Monday March 19, 2007 at Groton Nursing Home, Groton, NY. She was born November 21, 1923 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Austin J. & Ethel D. (Hall) Miller. She was a graduate of Dolgeville High School, and Utica Business College. Thelma married John C. Homrighaus on November 26, 1948 in Coral Gables, Florida. They were married for 56 years before John?s death on December 5, 2004. Mrs. Homrighaus was a member of the Dolgeville United Methodist Church and the Little Falls Hospital Guild and served on the Board of Directors of the Mohawk Homestead for 33 years. She valued her family, her friendships, homemaking, gardening, laughing, and was a lifelong expert knitter. Survivors include two sons, Michael Homrighaus and wife Cathleen (Murphy) of Cortland, & Barry Homrighaus and wife Barbara Knox of Klamath Falls, Oregon, a brother, Stanley Miller of Glens Falls, her six grandchildren, Jason and Krina (Jones) Homrighaus of Amsterdam, Zachary and Elizabeth (Westover) Homrighaus of Chicago, Ill., Noah Homrighaus of Cortland, Austin and Bethany (Matsko) of Alexandria, Virginia, James Merle and Angelyn Larkin of Cambridge, Mass., and Ruth Homrighaus and David Voelker of Green Bay, Wisconsin, three great grandchildren, Joseph and Jennifer Homrighaus & Lucie Bee Cain, in-laws, Ruth and Bill Sawyer and Elizabeth and Harvey Hall, nieces and nephews, Virginia Garrett, Cathy Messina, James Sivak, Glenn Sivak, Mark Hall, Matthew Hall, David Hall, and their spouses and children. She was pre-deceased by her twin sister Wilma Sivac. In keeping with Thelma?s wishes, there are no calling hours. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday May 12, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the Dolgeville United Methodist Church with interment at the Dolgeville Cemetery. Following the services, the family will receive friends of Thelma?s at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dolgeville United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer?s Research Fund.
