JORDANVILLE – Svetlana Korol, 57, of Jordanville, New York, passed away on December 10, 2024, in Manhattan, New York after a valiant battle with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC), a very rare type of cancer.
Svetlana was born on July 4, 1967, to Valerii and Ludmila Konukhov, in Moscow, Russian Federation. In Moscow she earned a master’s degree. After arriving in the United States in 1991, she went on to join in marriage with Vladimir Korol in 2001.
When remembering her beautiful life, Svetlana loved spending time with and nurturing her family. She spent her lifetime raising her beautiful four children with pride, love, warmth, and teaching them utmost respect for each other and themselves. She was always explaining and offering any guidance she possibly could. She was an amazing cook and made sure to share her talents with her children whenever time would allow.
She enjoyed traveling, especially to the ocean and beaches of Wildwood, New Jersey, particularly in the summer months, namely August. She enjoyed being outdoors – fishing and nature being very important to her. Reading was a source of strength to her and most recently she has been learning the French language. She loved pets, especially dogs, and was particularly fond of her giant schnauzer.
Svetlana was very creative. She could crochet and knit wonderful mementos. She had even put on a puppet show at the monastery during Orthodox Christmas for the children. She will always be remembered as truthful and honest.
Svetlana is survived by her husband Vladimir and her children whom she adored, Aleksandra, Elizabeth, Arseniy, and Vera, her granddaughter, Sofia, her mother, Ludmila and her sister, Anastasia, and several nephews. She was predeceased by her father.
