CLINTON - ILION - Mrs. Suzanne L. Patrei, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and family member, passed away on Saturday evening, October 18th, 2025, at The Abraham House in Rome, New York, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on May 11th, 1952, in Ilion, NY, to the late Albert W. and Sophie (Jachimczyk) Schneider.

Suzanne's early life in Ilion shaped her into the caring and dedicated person she became. After graduating from Ilion High School, she continued her education at Mohawk Valley Community College, laying the foundation for a career that would see her devoted to serving others. She embraced her role as a Teacher’s Assistant within the Ilion School District, fostering young minds and nurturing their growth. Later, she took on the position of Billing Manager at Geriatric and Medical Associates, where her diligence and commitment were evident until her well-deserved retirement.

On August 19, 1972, Suzanne married her partner in life, Louis Patrei. Together, they crafted a warm and loving home, filled with laughter and cherished memories. They were blessed with six children—Michael and his wife Carolyn, Laura and her husband Dr. Scott Brehaut, Nicholas and his wife Nicole, Sarah and her husband Daniel Oliver, Christopher and his wife Danielle, and Joseph and his wife Dionne. Each of her children brought her immeasurable joy, and they knew they were loved unconditionally by their devoted mother.

Suzanne's love extended beyond her children to encompass her eight delightful grandchildren: Ella, Ian, Sophia, Samuel, Violet, Cordelia, Rose, and Gianna. Her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother, a role she embraced wholeheartedly, marking every occasion with warmth and affection.

Suzanne is also survived by her brother Robert and his wife Carol Schneider of Endicott, NY, who, along with her entire family, will carry the light of her spirit in their hearts.

As Suzanne's family navigates this profound loss, they are grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at The Abraham House and Hospice, who supported them during her final moments. The family acknowledges that Suzanne's strength and kindness were reflected in the way they were treated during this difficult time.

In keeping with Suzanne's wishes, her funeral will be held privately for her family, with no public calling hours. Those who knew and loved her will undoubtedly remember her smile, her laughter, and the way she made each person feel valued and loved. The world has lost a remarkable woman, but her legacy of love will continue to shine through her family and all those whose lives she touched.

In keeping with Suzanne’s wishes there will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Abraham House, 417 N. Washington Street, Rome, NY 13440 and Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd, New Hartford, NY 13413.
