Susan B. Fox

Susan Beatrice Compagni Fox, 69, of Little Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Sue was born April 27, 1957, in Cortland, NY, to the late Geno and Beatrice Compagni. On July 30, 1977, in Cortland, she married the love of her life, Terry Fox. They were one day shy of celebrating 49 years of marriage together.

Faith was the very core of Sue's existence. She was a devoted member of Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church in Herkimer, NY, where her love for God and for others guided everything she did.

Sue's greatest joy was caring for children — both professionally and personally. Over the years she worked at Herkimer Elementary School, ran a daycare in her own home, and led the after school care and summer program at her church, touching countless young lives along the way.

Outside of her family and her church, Sue loved jet skiing in her younger years, cheering on her husband and son at motocross events across the country, hunting for shells on the beach, and enjoying good seafood. She treasured trips to York Beach, Maine, Tybee Island, Georgia, and visits with family scattered across Las Vegas, California, New Jersey, Oregon, Cortland, and Florida. Her home was filled with photos of the people she loved. Sue was also famous for her Italian cookies, baked by hand for family weddings, graduations, holidays, or simply because. There was always a reason to bake for the people she loved.

Faithful, caring, kind, spiritual, and quick with a laugh, Sue was a real scorch, full of warmth and never far from a good joke. She was a beacon of love, and everyone who knew her felt it.

Sue is survived by her husband, Terry Fox; her son, Jason Fox, and his wife, Lesli; her cherished grandchildren, Lonna and Novva, who were the light of her life; her siblings Joanne Compagni Honour and her wife, Tina Retka, Natalie Compagni Portis, and Joe Compagni and his wife, Jennifer; her brother-in-law, Jim Reagan; and a large and beloved extended family across the country.

She was predeceased by her parents, Geno and Beatrice Compagni; her sister, Jean Compagni Reagan; and her infant daughter, Joanne Marie, who passed away at seven months old and has been in her heart every day since.

A Celebration of Sue's Life will be held Saturday, August 1, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church, 838 West German Street, Herkimer, NY.

In lieu of flowers, Sue would love for you to honor her memory by donating blood or platelets, and by investing time and love in your own grandchildren and family, just as she did every day of her life.
