FAIRFIELD - Mr. Stephen Michael Smith, age 69, formerly of Fairfield and most recently a resident of Valley Health Services, Herkimer, passed away on Saturday morning March 15th, 2025, at that facility.
He was born on May 2nd, 1955, in Cortland, New York. He attended St. Mary’s Parochial School, Cortland New York – having graduated with the Class of 1970. He then graduated from Cortland Senior High School in 1973. He furthered his education, obtaining degrees, AAS - SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech – 1975, and BS – Cornell University/ Ag & Life Sciences – 1977.
His employment revolved around Eastern Artificial Insemination Cooperative, Inc., Soil & Water Conservation District – Herkimer County, New York and Montgomery County, New York. His passion was that as Dairy Farmer – registered Jerseys.
He was predeceased by his parents - Donald B Smith and Catherine T. (nee Dellea) Smith and his spouse – Carla Anne (nee Ciancio) Smith.
Survivors include: his son – Andrew Martin Smith (Jamie Leigh Sampson), his daughter – Alessandra Anne (Benjamin Miller), his sisters – Diane Chu (Donald), and Sheila Morrell (Douglas), his aunts – M. Joan DeKimpe and Shirley L. Hulslander (Robert) as well as many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Stephen’s life will be remembered, and cremation has taken place. His family has made all arrangements with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer, New York (315) 866-1011.
