Stephen T. Quinn

July 2, 1958 — October 8, 2025

Frankfort

Stephen T. Quinn, age 67, a longtime Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, after a ten year battle with cancer. His passing occurred at the Wynn Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Born in Freeport, Long Island on July 2, 1958, Stephen was the son of the late Martin J. and Jane A. (Moriarty) Quinn. His childhood years were spent on Long Island before relocating with his family to West Winfield to operate a horse farm. He would go on to help his father in the family business, where he would soon meet the love of his life, the former Deborah A. Kiehm.

After graduating with the Mount Markham High School Class of 1976, Steve continued his education at Jamestown College where he earned his associate’s degree. After completion of his schooling, Steve returned home to be with his sweetheart, Deb. The two were married on July 2, 1983 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica; the greatest birthday gift that Steve could ever receive! Their marriage was filled with fun, laughter and love and after nearly a decade of togetherness, Steve and Deb were blessed with their beloved daughter, Shelby.

Steve’s working years were spent at his business, Ilion Plastics, which he owned and operated with his brother, Mike. He also worked for over ten years as a manager with Rent-A-Center before his eventual retirement. Steve was an all-round optimistic and happy-go-lucky guy who was never bothered by the ‘small stuff.’ He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and through the years could be found camping, travelling, socializing, four-wheeling, horseback riding or toying with his prized Corvette.

You never ran into Steve without being greeted with a big, handsome smile. He never complained and was blessed with a sarcastic and witty sense of humor. He emitted cheerfulness and in the words of one of his nephews, was the ‘happiest person in the world.’

Steve’s overall persona and demeanor came from the love he had for his family. Growing up, he was inseparable from his siblings and even later in life their bond was incredible. When he met his Deb, the earth stood still. From the moment he saw her riding that horse until the moment he left this physical earth, Steve was blessed with a one true love. Then, of course, was Daddy’s Princess, his Shelby. The joy she brought his life was immeasurable and she was his greatest accomplishment!

Steve leaves behind his beloved wife of forty-two years, Deborah; his daughter and son-in-law, Shelby and Rich Pitcher of Syracuse; his sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Kenneth Netto of Watertown; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Marty and Betty Quinn of West Winfield and Mike and Kathy Quinn of Frankfort; his in-laws, John and Barb Kiehm of North Carolina, Suzanne Dirtadian of Utica and Fred Kiehm of New Hartford; his nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Christopher, Michael, Lauren, Kristen, Amanda, Matthew, Douglas, Gayle, David, Mark, Fred, David, Beth and Jennifer; and many friends, with special mention of John Wallace, Mike and Diana Peo, Brad and Debbie Jones and Steve and Jess Christensen. He also leaves behind his beloved animals, Willow, Ernie, Charlie and Meatball!

Steve was predeceased by his parents, Marty and Jane; his in-laws, Charles and Helen Kiehm; his brother-in-law, Donald “Puff” Dirtadian; his sister-in-law, Karen Kiehm; and his niece, Joanne Dirtadian.

A special thank you is extended to Dr. Alicia DeTraglia and the team at MVHS Hematology/Oncology Group and to Dr. Charlene Mantia and the team at the Dana Farber Institute, for all the care, support and compassion shown to the Quinn family through the years.
