Stephen Kubica, 95, a long time Town of Oppenheim resident, passed away on Saturday March 8, 2008 at Van Allen Nursing Home, Little Falls, NY. He was born June 30, 1912 in Yonkers, NY the son of the late George Kubica Sr., and Elizabeth (Sivacek) Kubica and was educated in New York City schools. He was married to Alice Dunham Ortlieb on September 2, 1966 at Zion Lutheran Church in Dolgeville. Mrs. Kubica passed away on December 23, 1986. Mr. Kubica was a World War II Army veteran, January 2, 1943 and was honorably discharged on January 3, 1946 with the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. While proudly serving his country he fought in Bi Smarch ? Archipelago, Luzon, New Guinea, and Southern Philippines. Stephen also received the following awards and medals, Asiatic ? Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Philippines Liberation World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Kubica was last employed at the former Chicago Pneumatic in Utica, and was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include two step-sons, Edward H. and Richard Ortlieb both of Dolgeville, and a step-daughter, Annabel Lacek of Dolgeville, several grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Betty Ann Alguire of Little Falls and Susan Lyons of Lorton, Virginia. He was pre-deceased by a brother, George Kubica, Jr., and two sisters, Emelia Robbins and Anna Jamieson. In keeping with Stephen?s wishes there are no calling hours. Spring interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville, NY
