HERKIMER: Stella A. Oleszek, 97, of E. Albany Street, Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Folts Home, Herkimer.
Born in Herkimer on October 5, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Katherine (Drapalski) Orcheski. Raised and educated locally, she attended Herkimer Schools. She married Harry Oleszek at Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church who predeceased her. During her working years, Stella was employed as an assembler for UNIVAC in Utica, NY. Stella was an honest person and found great satisfaction and joy in the love of all of her family, holding a special bond with her sister, Nellie. In her leisure time, she loved to play bingo and visit the casino. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church of Little Falls.
She is survived by her sister, Nellie Crandall of Herkimer; nieces and nephews, Francis (Butch) Crandall and wife Joan of Ilion, Garre Crandall and wife Jennifer of Herkimer, Phil Pankow, Jr., Conrad, Michael and Fredericka Orcheski, a sister-in-law, Jennie Bednarski and many grand nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Olga Pankow and a brother, Martin Orcheski.
Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Stella's memory may consider the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church of Little Falls; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Funeral Services for Stella will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. WASHINGTON STREET, Herkimer, NY (F.K.A. Holleran Funeral Service) 315-866-1011 with Father Rafal Dadello of the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church of Little Falls, officiating.. Visitation will take place from 9:00-10:00 AM at the funeral home just prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.
