Shirley Scottie-Valeriano

d. March 16, 2015

LAS VEGAS - Mrs. Shirley Jean Scottie-Valeriano, age 76, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NV and formerly of Governeur, NY, passed away suddenly in her home on Thursday, March 5, 2015.

Born on June 19, 1938, Shirley was the daughter of the late Claude Clifford and Olive (Bell) Cardinell. She was raised and educated in upstate New York and graduated from local schools. Shirley was then married and spent a number of years living in San Diego.

After the death of her first husband, she met and fell in love with Alfred A. Valeriano, Sr. and the two relocated to Las Vegas in 1979. They were an inseparable couple who cared for one another in every way. They spent over 35 years of love and companionship, until early this year, when Al passed unexpectedly on January 9th. It is said that one can die of a broken heart and there is no greater testament to a couple's true love when one really cannot live without the other.

Shirley will be missed by her beloved family; her stepsons and daughters-in-law, Al and Angela Valeriano of Frankfort and Phil and Terese Valeriano of Baldwinsville; her grandchildren, Vincent Valeriano, Danielle Valeriano, Alaina Valeriano and her fiance´e, Todd Phillips, and Aleese Valeriano; and her brothers and sisters-in-law of the Syracuse area.

The family bid their farewells to Shirley in a private gathering. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Al, at St. Agnes Cemetery in Utica.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to family friend and funeral director, Marin L. Ciaccia, of the Enea Family Funeral Home in Frankfort.
