ILION - Shirley B. Marshall, age 78, of 12 Remington Ave., Ilion, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 18, 2012, at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.



She was born on January 25, 1934, in Malone, NY, the daughter of Issac and Evelyn (LaRuche) Clookey, and attended Malone schools. On June 8, 1957, she was married to Charles K. Marshall in Malone. He died on March 5, 1983. Shirley was employed as a cashier at Loblaws of Ilion and Big M of Ilion. She also worked in the PC Dept. at MDS, Herkimer. Shirley was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, Mohawk American Legion Auxiliary, Ilion-Frankfort VFW # 502 Auxiliary and a life member of AMVETS. She was also a past member of the Ilion Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.



Survivors include her daughters, Lynne Marshall, of Ilion, and Brandi Martin and her husband, Steve, of Stockton, CA; her son, Theodore "Teddy" Marshall, Of Kingsport, TN; eight grandchildren, James, Matthew and Jenna Leigh Thompson, Cameron and Jillian Martin, Samantha Pasalaqua and husband, Eddie, and Nicholas and Eric Marshall; several great-grandchildren; her brother, Paul Clookey, of Ilion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.



She was predeceased by her husband, and her sister, Arlene Hosler.



Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2012, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion (old Main St., between Ilion and Frankfort), and 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Leo Potvin, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.



Calling hours are Thursday, May 24, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.



The Ilion-Frankfort VFW Post # 502 Auxiliary service will be held 5:30 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.



In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Annunciation or American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.



The Marshall family has entrusted all service arrangements and supervision to their family Funeral Director and friend, Don Applegate.
