Shirley Jorrey

SALISBURY- Mrs. Shirley A. Jorrey, 82, of State Route 29, passed away on March 22, 2012 at Alpine Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

She was born on October 28, 1929, in Salisbury, daughter of the late William A. and Ethel (Henderson) Lyons. On July 10, 1948 she was united in marriage with Robert T. Jorrey at the Salisbury Center United Methodist Church. Their loving union lasted 62 years until his passing in 2010.



Shirley graduated from Dolgeville High School in 1946. She was a lifelong resident of the Town of Salisbury. She worked for a period of time at Silvernail Coal Company and the Youker Insurance Agency, but her principal occupation was as an accomplished and loving wife and mother. Shirley was a lifelong member of the Salisbury Center United Methodist Church and served as a trustee for many years.



Shirley is survived by her sons and their wives: Douglas and Deborah Jorrey of Newcastle, WY, Brad and Mary Jorrey of Middletown, NY and Michael and Jane Jorrey of Dolgeville; her grandchildren: Emily, Kyle, Christopher, David and Adam; her great granddaughter Kylie; her sister and brother in law Alphonse and Lura Carmadello of Herkimer; her sister in laws Clara Jorrey of Dolgeville and Susan Jorrey of Ada, OK and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara in 1991 and her brother Robert in 1993.



There are no calling hours but a memorial service will be held on at 11am on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Salisbury Center United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Waldron and former Pastor Rev. Robert Jeffers officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the social room of the church. Burial will be held at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery , Salisbury.



Memorials in Shirley's name made be made to the Salisbury United Methodist Church.
