MOHAWK – Shirley A. Harris, of the town of German Flatts, passed away at the age of 77 on Wednesday March 8, 2017 at Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on August 23, 1939 in Little Falls, a daughter of the late Frank J. and Loretta E. (Siver) Harris, Sr. She was educated at St. Mary’s Academy. She was dedicated to her family and her spirituality, and a lifetime caregiver of her handicapped daughter Colleen. She thoroughly enjoyed time with family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving children, Michael and Lynn LaVenture of Chadwicks, Sharon and John Kinney of Herkimer, Richard and Sandy Eysaman of Herkimer, Chris LaVenture and Wendy Farrell of Brewerton, Cindy and Carney Cooper of Mohawk, and Colleen LaVenture of Herkimer, her siblings, Frank and Charlene Harris of Herkimer, Don Harris of Cobleskill, Linda Button of Clifton Park, and Kathy Kovacs (Harris) of Johnstown, her grandchildren, Jason and Jackie Kinney, Adria Eysaman, Sarah Kinney, Alex Cooper, Alyssa Eysaman, Alexa Cooper, Morganne Farrell, Danielle and Arthur Randall, Dylan Cooper, and eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her very special friend and companion Ihor Senyzyn. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Harris DeCarlis.
A memorial life celebration service for close and immediate family will be held on Saturday March 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer with Deacon Jim Bower officiating. A spring graveside interment service will be held on Wednesday April 19, 2017 at 11:30 AM at St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer. At the wish of Shirley there are no calling hours. The family is very thankful for the staff of Little Falls and Cooperstown Hospitals, as well as Valley Health Services for the care extended during her illness.
