ILION - Scott S. Leon, age 62, of Ilion, NY, went to be home with the Lord on Sunday, July 23, 2023. He was born on October 25, 1960, in Little Falls, NY to Charles and Eleanor Leon (Pettengill). In his early years, he resided in Stratford, NY and later moved to Ilion, NY where he graduated from Ilion High School.

Throughout his career, Scott exhibited exceptional dedication and reliability, having worked for Daniel Greens, in Dolgeville and Cellect LLC, in St. Johnsville, before joining Remington Arms briefly. Subsequently, he found great fulfillment at Walmart Distribution Center, where he took great pride in his role and accomplished various notable achievements, earning recognition in the form of commendable t-shirts.

Scott shared a profound and affectionate bond with Kathleen M. Ball, their relationship lasting for 24 loving years. Together, they made their home in Ilion, NY and he embraced the role of a caring stepfather to Delbert and Sue Ball (Noffer), JoEllen (Ball) and Mike Macrina, Regina Ball and Keith Fical, and Robert Ball and Kathy Girantino. His nurturing presence extended to his grandchildren, Megan Ball, Erika Ball, Michaela Macrina, David Macrina, Danielle Macrina, Mathew and Amanda McLean and Jacob Blovat, with whom he shared deep connections. He cherished the role of a gentle and compassionate great-grandfather to Brady McLean and Maya McLean.

Scott is survived by his brothers, Charles and Robyn Leon, of Lakeland, FL and William and Crystal Leon, of Little Falls, NY; and his sister, Elaine Farley, of Yorkville, NY. Scott also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased in death by his brother-in-law, Roger Farley; his parents, Charles and Eleanor Leon; nephew, Walter Leon; stepdaughter, JoEllen Macrina; family members, Ellen Ball, Linda Macri, Frank Macri, John Macri; and his beloved dog, Sammy.

Remembered as a man of few words but immense character, Scott exemplified kindness, gentleness and unwavering support to those around him. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures and readily extended assistance to anyone in need. Family gatherings, holidays, cookouts and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and musical performances brought him immense happiness. He also took pleasure in dining out, watching movies and participating in church activities. Scott’s interests included football, particularly the Kansas City Chiefs, wrestling, listening to country music and dancing. Additionally, he had a profound love for sweet treats, often indulging in ice cream, candy and chocolate pies.

His loss is deeply felt by numerous cherished family members, friends and acquaintances, who will greatly miss his presence.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Scott, on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at the Ilion Elks Club, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. During the Celebration of Life, the Mohawk Valley Church will conduct a memorial service and all are warmly encouraged to attend and share in commemorating his life.

Scott’s funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, at 4309 Acme Rd., in Frankfort, NY, Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors.
