It is with a heavy, broken heart that I announce the passing of my dear husband, Scott L. Davies, who was truly the love of my life. He passed on to eternity on Sunday, November 2, 2025, with those dearest to him never leaving his side. He was 73 years old.
Scott was born on April 21, 1952, the only son of the late Harold L. and Dorothy (Edick) Davies. Scott grew up in the Town of Litchfield, living out his entire life on the family property on Graffenburg Road. He graduated from Sauquoit Valley High School with the Class of 1970 and furthered his studies at MVCC.
As one of the hardest working men you could ever find, Scott’s earliest years were spent alongside his father on the family dairy farm, raising cows, bailing hay and growing potatoes as a cash crop. After completion of his schooling, he would go on to establish his own excavating business. He bought some equipment and put it to work, earning a living and helping those in need along the way.
In the late 70s, Scott converted a barn on the family property to a mechanic shop and began dealing and maintaining Rupp snowmobiles. It was also in the late 70s that he met the former Christine Allaire and the beginnings of their love story began to unfold. The couple were married on September 3, 1983, and recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary. They stood side by side in both work and play throughout their life together and had an incredible bond of love, laughter and togetherness.
In 1989, Scott and Christine embarked on another lifelong adventure, when they decided to open their own pumpkin farm. The business grew and developed into what is known today as Pumpkin Junction.
Currently in its 36th season, the family friendly farm offers not only pumpkins, gourds, squash, hay bales, a 6-acre corn maze and Monster Ghoul Bus rides, but an amazing collection of tricks and treats in its Halloween store. Scott’s artistry shone in the beautiful decorations and creations he made using wood and material harvested from his very own land. His passion for all things spooky, creepy, eerie and macabre were showcased on his beloved property.
When he wasn’t working the land and growing his business, Scott spent his time alongside his beloved Chris. The two enjoyed travelling, attending haunted houses and Halloween conventions across the country. Scott was a collector and loved American pickers; himself finding unique and fascinating items wherever he went.
Although he spent his life surrounded by the dark and scary, Scott’s personality was the furthest thing from it. He was one of the most loving, genuine, kindest men one could ever find. He was caring and compassionate and truly believed in giving back to his community and helping his fellow man. He would do anything for someone in need and never asked for anything in return.
Bringing joy and smiles to children and families was his life’s work and he has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Although my Superman has finally hung up his cape and we are heartbroken at his unexpected passing, we will forever cherish his memory and continue his legacy of love and philanthropy.
Scott leaves behind his partner in life, Christine; his mother-in-law, Jean P. Allaire of Clinton; his children, Shaun Davies, Traci Davies, Eric Bochene and Daniel Bochenek; his sister, Kathryn “Kay” Farber of Ilion; and his in-laws, Charles Newell of Sauquoit, Armand and Teresa Allaire of Hendersonville, TN, Arthur and Clarissa Allaire of Catawba, SC, Cynthia Reese of Wildwood, MO and Andrew and Jean Allaire of New Hartford. He also leaves several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and many, many friends.
Aside from his parents, Scott was predeceased by his sister, Brenda Newell and his brothers-in-law, Raymond Farber and Roger Reese.
In keeping with Scott’s wishes, there will be no formal calling hours or funeral service. His family will honor and commemorate his life at a later date in a private gathering. For those wishing to do so, please consider planting a tree (or a pumpkin!) in Scott’s memory. You can easily do this by clicking on the link on Scott’s memorial page at www.eneafamily.com.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Scott’s friend, Martin Ciaccia, of the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000, Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors.
