Sandra A. Hurteau

Ms. Sandra A. Hurteau, age 87, of Frankfort, NY, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, October 19, 2026.

Sandra was born in Ilion, NY on September 24, 1939. She was the daughter of Dock and Sadie Riddell (Staley). Sandra was a graduate of Ilion High School. On February 22, 1958, she was untied in marriage to Charles E. Hurteau, at the Herkimer Methodist Church, the two shared a union of 28 years before Charles passing in 1986.

Sandra was a dedicated mother and grandmother, she enjoyed every moment spent with her cherished grandchildren. She had a great passion for collecting owls, Sunday dinners, celebrating holidays with her family and spending time at Sylvan Beach. She was a member of the VFW as well as the American Legion.

Sandra is survived by her children, her sons; Charles Hurteau and his wife Nora, Jeffrey Hurteau and his wife Kathy, Terry Hurteau and his wife Crystal, her daughters; Cindy Nichols and her husband Theodore and Kelly Hurteau. Sandra leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her sister-in-law Margaret Riddell. Sandra also leaves her beloved partner of many years, Linda Guyer, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Dock and Sadie Riddell, her husband, Charles E. Hurteau, her son, James Hurteau (Brenda), her siblings; Richard Riddell, Leonard Riddell Sr. (Betty), Florence Hagadorn (Raymond) and Dorothy Ashley (Al), Phyllis Wameling (Bernard) and her step-grandson, Michael Gushue.

Relatives and friends are invited to Armory Hill Cemetery on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 11:00am where Sandra will be laid to rest. Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her granddaughters for taking care of their grandmother, as well as the staff of Hospice and Palliative care for the compassion, they showed Sandra and her family during her final moments.
