Rome: Samuel J. Wilson, Sr., age 63, a resident of Betsy Ross Nursing Home, 1 Elsie Street, Rome, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 31, 2011 in Rome Memorial Hospital.
Samuel was born on January 20, 1948 in Utica, a son of the late Samuel and Mary Ann Wilson. Mr. Wilson enlisted in the United States Navy in 1967 and was discharged with honors in 1969.
Sam was employed at Coleco in Amsterdam, and at one time, worked in the laundry department of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. He was a volunteer driver for the Herkimer County Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by a son, Samuel J. Wilson, Jr. and fiance´, Kaylia Lawton of Florida, and Sam's mom, Anna King of Little Falls; his grandchildren, Sierra Wilson, Brianna Stanley, Madison Moschetto, Leanna Wilson, and Jason Harrison; brothers, John and Robert; and a sister, Marion.
Sam's funeral will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 10 am at Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls (823-2424).
