Samantha Marie Wood

HERKIMER – Samantha Marie Wood, age 29, of Prescott St. , Herkimer, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Bassett Medical Center , with her family by her side, after a long and courageous battle with Leukemia.

She was born on July 5, 1989, in Watertown , NY , the daughter of Steven J. Wood and Dawn E. (Delaney) Wood.  Samantha graduated from Herkimer High School .  She worked at Walmart, in Herkimer for over five years.  Most recently, she worked at Folts Home, in Herkimer as a Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA) and especially enjoyed helping some of the more difficult patients.  Samantha loved being a mother and enjoyed dogs, cats, music and was an avid fan of the New York Giants.

Surviving family members include her daughter, Hayden Wood; her mother, Dawn Wood; her father, Steven Wood and his fiancée, Sacha Mayo; Samantha’s fiancé, Michael Sabatino; her paternal grandmother, Gertrude Wood; her brother, Daniel Robert Wood; several aunts; uncles; many cousins; her close friends, Katy Jantzen, Lauren Grainer, Katie Meade, Matt Ramsey; and many other friends.

Samantha was predeceased by her maternal great-grandmother, who was very close to her, Hazel Mallette; her paternal grandfather, Harold “Woody” Wood; and her maternal grandparents, Harry and Dolly Delaney.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 14, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s larger facility, at 4309 Acme Rd. (old Main St. between Ilion and Frankfort ) Ilion .  A Celebration of Samantha’s life and Prayer service will be held concluding calling hours on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
