FRANKFORT – Mrs. Rosemarie A. Button, age 95, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024. At the time of her passing, she had the constant love and support of her beloved family in her heart.
Born in Frankfort on July 24, 1929, Rosemarie was the daughter of the late Paul and Frances (Green) Seppi. She was raised and educated in Frankfort and after her graduation from high school she went on to attend Utica Business School. For many years she worked as a secretary, first at Union Fork & Hoe and then at Herkimer Wholesale, a position from which she retired.
On September 24, 1951, Rosemarie was married to the late Randall “Randy” Button at St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort, and together they shared in a loving and blessed union of over thirty-eight years until Randy’s passing on February 15, 1990.
Family always came first in Rosemarie’s life and nothing gave her greater joy than watching her children grow and start their own families; providing Rosemarie with grandchildren and great-grandchildren to dote upon and care for. Her home became a hub for her extended family and friends to gather and celebrate holidays and traditions. She was constantly in the kitchen cooking and baking for the ones she loved!
Through the years, Rosemarie relied on her Roman Catholic faith to guide her in trying times. She knew the power of prayer and passed on these traditions to the younger generations by teaching religious education. She was a lifelong parishioner of the current Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort.
She is survived by her children, Michael Button and his wife, Sue, of Frankfort, John Button and his wife, Wendy, of North Carolina, Jim Button of Frankfort, Mary Jean Grippe and her husband, Jody, of Frankfort and Geri Button and her wife, Patrice VanNortwick, of Utica. She also leaves her grandchildren, Allison and Dina Grippe-Vivirito, Jody R. and Melanie Grippe, Cristina and Ray LaBarbera, Jennifer and Matt Killion, Randi Button, Jessica and Brad Harper, Jamie and Mark Palumbo and Ryan and Christine Button; her great-grandchildren, Lorenzo, Mariana, Gianna, Joey, Mila, Julian, Roman, Jameson, Maci, Owen, Barrett, Briar, Hunter, Aiden, Scotland and Tripp, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, Godchildren and extended family.
Aside from her parents and husband, Randy, Rosemarie was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Josephine and Frank Perritano, Katherine and Frank Beratta, Carm and Frank Casullo and JoAnn and Don McShane; her brother, Frank Seppi; her great-granddaughter, Bailey Roe Button; a special nephew, Tom McShane and his wife, Elaine; and special lifelong friends, Sam and Virginia Reina.
A special thank you is extended to Rosemarie’s son, Jim, and all of her other caregivers throughout the years for giving her the gift of care, compassion and a long, fulfilled life.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours for Rosemarie on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 4:00PM – 6:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000.
