Ruth Slyke

Ruth S. Van Slyke, 79 a long time Fort Plain resident, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2005 at the Van Allen Nursing Home, Little Falls, NY. Ruth was born August 23, 1925 in the Town of Danube, NY the daughter of the late Arnold & Myrtle (Conrad) Sanders. She was educated in a one-room school house on Bellinger Road, in the Town of Danube and graduated from Little Falls High School. Her marriage to Robert L. Van Slyke took place on February 15, 1947 in Fort Plain. The couple shared a blessed union of 58 years until the passing of Mr. Van Slyke on March 28, 2005. For 42 years until her retirement, Ruth was last employed at Cherry Burrells in Little Falls, where she was head of the Billing Department. Survivors include a son, Richard Van Slyke of Fort Plain; 3 grandchildren, Robert Van Slyke and wife Bernadette of Fort Plain, Peter Salamone of Dallas, Texas, & Patricia Mormile and husband Tim of Dallas, Texas; 4 great grandchildren, Timothy & Erika Cheney and Nicholas & Matthew Mormile, and several nieces & Nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother; Robert A. Sanders. In keeping with Ruth?s wishes, graveside services along with her husband Robert will be held on Saturday May 7, 2005 at 1:00 pm at West St. Johsnsville Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY.
