Ruth Ellen Piper Gorski

EAST HERKIMER - Ruth Ellen Piper Gorski, age 95, of East Herkimer, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Presbyterian Home, New Hartford.

Ruth was born on February 9, 1929, in Ithaca, NY, daughter of Merton and Frances Piper. Ruth attended High School in Ilion and was a proud majorette. Her marriage to Paul J Gorski took place September 8, 1951, at Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church. The couple shared a blessed union of 51 years until the passing of Paul, on December 29, 2002.

Ruth was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the church and taught Sunday School and was in the choir. Ruth was extremely social and loved people and entertaining. The first Girl Scout Brownie troop in East Herkimer was started by Ruth. Baking and decorating cakes, ceramics, gardening, sewing, babysitting, shopping and traveling, were just a few of her favorite things to do with her family and her friends. Ruth had a long enjoyable work history in fashion retail. She always had a genuine love for her pets.

She had six loving daughters that she was very devoted to, Rebecca Smith, Susan Izzo, Donna Bonfoey, Gina Zeurcher, Debra Palmisano and Mellisa Gorski. Ruth is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in her death by her husband, Paul; her daughter, Debra; and her brother, Robert.

The family offers its deepest gratitude to the professional staff at the Presbyterian Home for their tender love and care that they provided Ruth and her family through her extended stay.

Ruth Gorski will be buried in Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Cemetery, on Friday afternoon, August 16, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. The family will be having a Celebration of Life following the burial.
