Ruth A Johnson

Mrs. Ruth A. (Besley) Johnson, age 84, formerly of Elmira and most recently of Ilion, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center with the love and comfort of her family.



Ruth was born in Elmira, NY on July 2, 1927, the daughter of the late Stephen and Augusta (Slocum) Besley. She was raised and educated in Elmira. She was married to David J. Johnson, a loving relationship of 36 years until his passing. Theirs was a loving marriage, focused on their mutual devotion to family. A dedicated wife and mother, Ruth prided herself on raising her family and keeping up her home. She was of the Methodist faith.



Ruth is survived by her daughters, Joan DiMaggio and Sharon Cummings; her 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
