Rudolph L. Youngblut 81 of Bellinger Road, Fort Plain and a former Herkimer & Dolgeville resident, passed away on Saturday April 9, 2005 at the Folts Home, Herkimer, NY. He was born October 22, 1923 in Little Falls the son of the late Robert & Naomi (Paatz) Youngblut, and was educated in Dolgeville schools. Mr. Youngblut was a World War II Army veteran enlisting on March 2, 1943 and was honorably discharged on April 15, 1946 with the rank of Private First Class. While serving his country Rudy received the following medals; European African Medal, Eastern Campaign Medal and Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star, American Campaign Medal and Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, & World War II Victory Medal and Ribbon. Rudy was the manager of the former Grand Union Grocery Store in Fort Plain, until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Youngblut was of the Lutheran faith. Survivors include 2 sons; William Youngblut and wife Carolyn of Herkimer, & Robert Youngblut and wife Linda of East Herkimer, 4 daughters; Bettyjean Postiglione and husband John of Ilion, Patricia Roper and husband Jim of Rome, Diane Lester and husband John of Florida, & Jeanine Sekel and husband Joe of Fort Plain, 2 sisters; Naomi Youker of Dolgeville, & Irma Hoffman of Dolgeville, 16, grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousin and friends. He was pre-deceased by his twin brother; Robert Youngblut and 2 brothers, Erwin & Ewald Youngblut. Graveside services will be held later in the spring at Dolgeville Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY. There are no calling hours.
