Rosemarie J. Franco

May 15, 1938 — July 6, 2023

MANLIUS - Rosemarie J. Franco, 85, of Manlius, NY, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and a friend to many, passed away peacefully, on July 6, 2023, in the privacy of her home, with her family. She was born to parents Ralph Piscione and Marietta (Torto) Piscione, on May 15, 1938, in Herkimer, NY.

She graduated from West Winfield Central School in 1957. Rosemarie met Rocco J. Franco in 1957. They were married on October 25, 1958, in West Winfield, NY. Over the course of their 65 years together they raised 3 children and have countless memories as treasures. In addition, together they ran two successful businesses in the West Winfield area, namely the Cedarville Country Store and the Stone House Restaurant.

For 18 wonderful years, until their retirement in 2002, Rosemarie and Rocco owned and operated the Stone House Restaurant, in West Winfield, NY. The restaurant, and Rosemarie and Rocco, were known for their excellent food and warm hospitality. Prior to their retirement, Rosemarie and Rocco were recognized for their Support to the Alzheimer's Association. Using their restaurant in honor of Rosemarie’s mother Marietta, she and her husband were long-time supporters of the Alzheimer's Association and held an annual fundraiser for more than 10 years.

After their retirement, Rosemarie worked in both the Guilderland Central School District and the Fayetteville-Manlius School District in food service for 12 years before her second retirement in 2017.

She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was extremely proud of her daughters and made good friends easily. She liked good food, she loved entertaining and was an excellent cook and was an especially good pie-baker. She enjoyed gardening and loved to tend her drift roses. In the last several years, Rosemarie loved, walking the neighbor’s dogs, sitting on her front porch and riding to Peck’s Lake to gather with family and friends for good food, fun and of course boat rides leaning back and listening to music.

Rosemarie is survived by her husband Rocco; her daughters: Angela M. Franco, Roxanne (Robb) Sweet and Maria (Garrett) Schoonover: her two grandchildren: Joseph(Christine) Sweet and Makayla Schoonover: her three brothers, Joseph (Donna) Piscione, Tom (Gail) Piscione and Ralph (Joy) Piscione. She is also survived by her in-laws: Anne Franco, John and Roseann Franco, Peter Franco and Mary Franco; and several cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marietta (Torto) Piscione; her brother-in-law, Joseph Franco: her in-laws, Raymond and Olga Franco, Rita and and Anthony (Pop) Cassella, Edward Franco, Thomas Franco and Joan Franco; and several Aunts, Uncles and cousins, primarily in the Central NY and Southern Tier of NY.
