Ilion, NY/Zephyr Hills, Florida: Mrs. Rosalia "Rosemary" (Vaniglia) Candella, 95, a former longtime Ilion resident, currently residing in Zephyr Hills, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, in Zephyr Haven Nursing Home. Rosemary also resided in Dolgeville for many years.
Mrs. Candella was born in Little Falls on September 13, 1916, a daughter of the late Benedetto and Josephine (Scalice) Vaniglia. She was educated in Little Falls Schools. Rosemary married Frank Candella on June 16, 1946 in Albany, and the two of them enjoyed a loving union of over 65 years.
Rosemary is survived by her loving husband, Frank, a daughter, Renee Candella-Rurka and husband Samuel Joseph of Michigan, a son, Richard Candella and wife Sharon of Middleville, 4 grandchildren, Amber Rurka, Anthony Rurka, Michelle Rife, and Kristen Candella, 4 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Mayme Tassa, a brother Orlando "Landy" Vaniglia, and a sister-in-law Geraldine "Gilda" Vaniglia.
She was a faithful member of New Life Church and Ministry Center, Herkimer. Rosemary spent the majority of her life caring for her family, and making their home. She and her family shared a mutual love and respect for each other, and nothing made her happier than being with them.
Rosemary's funeral will commence on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at 10:15 am with prayer at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY (866-1011). Procession will follow to New Life Church and Ministry Center, where her funeral will be conducted at 11 am by Pastor David Hayner. Interment will follow in Dolgeville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 9-10:15 am, prior to the funeral.
