MOHAWK – Mr. Ronald P. Pontero, age 61, of Mohawk, New York, passed away unexpectedly on April 2nd, 2025, at Wynn Hospital.
He was born on June 3rd, 1963, in Utica, New York, a son of Ronald Via Pontero and Grace (Camarata) Pontero and attended Frankfort schools. He worked at Remington Arms for ten years, and most recently loved his career with Resonetics, New Hartford.
Ronnie was a huge New York Yankee fan and was affectionately referred to as “Poppie.” He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Maureen (Shay) Pontero, his mother, Grace Pontero of Frankfort, four children, Beau Binney of Ilion, Ross Binney of Herkimer, Sarah Binney and Jenell Binney of Herkimer, his grandchildren, Rhylee Ruthford (AKA Bubba) of Herkimer, Shay Binney (Known as ‘B’) of Ilion, his two sisters, Debra Kelly and Matt Sweet of Mohawk, and Denise Wood and her husband Dennis of Mohawk, his niece, Brittany Ellis of Nebraska, Kayleigh Sweet of Ilion, and Aleah Hoke of Mohawk, his aunt Concetta Kinney of Frankfort, and his uncle Joseph Camarata and his wife Renee of Frankfort, his sister-in-law, Jill King of Little Falls, and dear friend Gene Snyder of Little Falls, several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Ronald Via Pontero.
Ronald’s family has privately honored his life well lived. At their convenience, at a later date, he will be interred at the family plot at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort, New York.
