Ronald W. Auger, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY.
He was born on January 26, 1940, in Ilion, NY to Frederick and Eva Augar. He was raised on the family farm in Litchfield, NY and attended West Winfield Central School graduating in 1958. He later entered the US Army and spent 3 years in Germany. In 1963 he was united in marriage with Lois Armstrong in West Winfield, NY.
At one time Ronald worked for Wicks Lumber, but his career was at Tennessee Gas Pipeline as a pipeline foreman. He retired in 1997 after 28 years there. He truly enjoyed the time spent there and the people he worked with over the years.
Ron loved the outdoors. He enjoyed deer hunting every year with his family and friends. He loved camping in the Adirondacks and canoeing with Lois and family there. He was a talented woodworker and spent many hours in his shop at home refinishing antique furniture as well as making his own furniture which he took much pride in giving to his children and grandchildren.
Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He truly enjoyed spending time with his entire family. He loved sharing stories of the past and giving advice to his loved ones. His wisdom and guidance will always be remembered and cherished.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lois Auger, his daughter Toni Guzik and her husband Joseph, his son Kelly Auger and his wife Georg-ann. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Nicole Southard and husband David, Chelsea Owen and husband Frank, Stacia Guzik, Allison Ruffles and husband Zachary, and Ryan Auger. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Maddyson and Kendyl Owen and Mason Ruffles.
Ronald’s surviving siblings are Joann Stafford and Terri Donnelly (Tim), and brother-in-law Mike Louvet. He is also survived by in-laws Keith Armstrong (Marna), Judy Mulligan, Wayne Armstrong (Cindy), and Karen Rudd (Jeff), and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Eva Augar, his sister Nyla Clark and her husband Ed Clark, his sister Dianne Louvet, his brother Douglas Augar, his brother-in-law Gene Stafford, and sister-in-law Jeanne Armstrong.
