d. April 20, 2022

HERKIMER – Robert Kurt Rhymestine, age 72, a lifelong Herkimer resident, entered into eternal rest, on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in Herkimer, New York.

He was born the son of John and Isabel (Smith) Rhymestine, on September 20, 1949, in Utica, NY. He was educated in Herkimer schools and also attended MVCC. Prior to his retirement in 2018, Kurt was employed for 25 years as a product manager for Riverhawk Company. He was quite proud to have been one of Riverhawk’s first employees and his hard work and dedication were key to the growth and success of the company.

Kurt loved the outdoors and was a skilled fly-fisherman. He was also a gifted photographer and he enjoyed many hours spent capturing amazing photographs of birds and wildlife with his friends, John and Patti. It was through his photos that he developed a large following of fans who experienced nature through his camera’s lens.

Surviving family members include his son, Jeff (Michelle) Rhymestine, of Cassville; his daughters, Jami (Jeff) Lyga, of Herkimer and Megan Rhymestine (Rocco Brank III), of Frankfort; one brother, Richard (Cindy) Rhymestine, of Herkimer; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Jenna, Alexis, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Matthew, Rocco, Adriana and Arya; and two nephews, Brett Rhymestine and Eric Rhymestine.

He was predeceased by his brother, John, in 1999.

With respect to Kurt’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Kurt’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY, Funeral Directors Harry J. Enea, Jr., Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia.
