LITTLE FALLS- Mr. Robert D. Lonis,(Buddy) 85, of Mohawk passed away on November 8, 2015 at Bassett Health Care, Cooperstown, after a short illness surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 2, 1930, in Ilion, son of the late William and Julia ( Donnelly) Lonis. On August 27, 1955 he was united in marriage with Margaret Kramer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls. Theirs was a loving union which lasted over 60 years. Robert served in the United States Air Force from 1948-1951. He was stationed in Okinawa. He was last employed at Beech Nut in Canajoharie.

Robert was a dedicated family man. He enjoyed going to camp at Piseco Lake, trips to Atlantic City, swimming, snowmobiling, gardening and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was nicknamed “Mr. Fixit” as he could fix almost anything. He was a very big Al Jolson fan and him and his family would enjoy listening to his music together. Robert was very proud of his Irish heritage. He will never forget his beloved pet Bella. Robert was the Best Father and Grandfather that his 3 daughters and grandson could ever had. He put them above all else in his life. He did anything ever asked of him by his wife Margie, who he not have wanted to live without. He also loved having another guy around : his son in law Dale.

Survivors include his beloved wife Margie; his 3 daughters Sandy Lonis, Mary Jo Carrig and Linda Skibinski and her husband Dale; his grandson Brian Robert Carrig, wife Rebecca, great granddaughter Paisley of Fernley, Nevada ; his sister Eleanor Hanley and her husband Bob, many cousins, nieces and nephews and brother in law Anthony Gabriel. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Donna Marie Lonis; his brothers: Elwood , David and Donald Lonis and his sisters: Elizabeth Schneider and Patricia Gabriel and his beloved son in law Paul Carrig.

Calling hours will take place from 5-8 pm on Friday November 13, 2015 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a big thank you to the Physical Therapy Dept. at Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and the staff at Bassett Health Care for their love and support.
