ILION - Robert Lee Kinville, age 84, of North Street, in Ilion, passed away on Sunday, August 20th with his family by his side.
Robert was born on September 10th, 1938, in North Ilion, NY, the son of Edna (Hall) Dickson and William Dickson. He attended Ilion schools and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving as a rifleman before being honorably discharged in 1959. Robert was married to Carol (Paschke) Kinville for nearly thirty-eight years and remained friends until his passing. Robert was employed by Remington Arms for thirty-nine years and had an impeccable record of efficiency, excellence and thoroughness in everything he did for the Arms. After retiring from Remington in 2006, he enjoyed mowing the neighborhood lawns and helping people in need. He received an award from the Village of Ilion for his volunteerism within the Village. He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees when they won. He traveled to Wisconsin on numerous occasions to visit his eldest son and family. Visiting the Johnston Beef Farm with his family brought joy to his life. Robert was a proud member of the Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post 25 and the Marine Corps League as well. His beloved canine companion Beethoven was the light of his life.
Surviving members of Robert's family include his sons, William and wife, Theresa, of Kenosha, WI and Daniel, of Ilion, NY; his daughter, Tammy Johnston and her husband, Dan, of Dolgeville, NY; his grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Kinville, Jennifer Bottini and her husband, Paul and their children, David, Johnny, Logan and Chase, Katie Rockwell and her companion, Mitch Hathaway and children, Madelyn and Wesley Rockwell and Andy and Carrin Johnston; His brother, Leo Kinville, of Mohawk; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Edna and William; his sister, Beverly August; his brother, George Kinville; his sister-in-law, Nancy Kinville; his nephew, James August; and a very special friend, Rosie Atkinson.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. and calling hours prior to this are 9:00 a.m., until the time of the services. Family and friends are all invited to this day, all to be held at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion, New York. Interment with full military honors will be after the services, 11:30 a.m., at Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls. A Celebration of Bob's Life will follow from 1:00PM - 4:00PM at the Mohawk American Legion. All are welcome to attend.
