MOHAWK – Mr. Robert J. Gushue, 78, of Mason Road, Town of German Flatts, passed away peacefully in the privacy of his home, on Saturday afternoon, June 25, 2022.

He was born on March 15, 1944, in Ilion, New York and admirably served our country with the United States Army, 1962-65. He had a very diverse working career, having attended a school for nursing in California and even served on the editorial staff at St. Mary’s Academy, Little Falls. Through the years, he worked with H.P. Snyder Bicycle factory, was a bail bondsman in San Francisco, worked at Little Falls Hospital, was a taxi - cab driver and dispatcher for Blue Bird Cab Co. #28, drove for MOVAC at one time and enjoyed the Little Falls Bowling alley and diner. He was a volunteer as well for Hospice and the American Red Cross. For 22 years, he was a machinist with Remington Arms. He was a member of the Holy Family Parish.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Burroughs); a son, Christopher Gushue and his wife, Rebecca, of Dolgeville; a daughter, Lynn Young and her husband, Thomas, of Sauquoit, NY; a brother, George Gushue; a sister, Beverly Kirkegaard; grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua and Kody; canines, Ginger and Brandy; and special people, who graced Bob’s journey in life include, Kevin Carrig, the late Hank Brown (Bob’s mentor), Bill Bilensky, Dan Higgins, Doug Wiegand, George Streeter, James Burghen, Ryan Hoke, Dr. Gregory O’Keefe, the late Agnes Carrig, Dennis Kitner and Pat Dodge. He was predeceased by a brother, Cyril and his sister, Betty Viehmann.

His immediate family only will be privately gathering, on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, in Little Falls, NY. There will be an opportunity of viewing for them at the funeral home chapel at West Monroe Street, on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.

At 10:00 a.m., on Thursday morning, a Funeral Graveside Service shall be held, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, whereas interment will then take place, with presentation of flag, U.S. Army. All are welcome to join us for the Graveside Service to begin at 10 a.m.
