Robert H. "Bob" Gleed, 58, of 1113 Oakwood Lane, Town of Frankfort, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2004, at St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Bob was born Oct. 16, 1945 in Ilion, son of the late Harry R. and Minnie I. (Gay) Gleed. He attended Ilion schools. On April 23, 1983 he was united in marriage to Gloria Reel of Cold Brook. Bob was employed by the Remington Arms Co., Ilion, most recently as a final assembler. He retired in October of 2000 with approximately 45 years of dedicated service. At one time Bob was a member of the Ilion Moose Lodge 1010, Ilion Fish and Game Club, Remington Arms 25 Year Club and the Ilion Jaycees. Bob was an avid photographer and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and his trips to the Thousand Islands. Bob's life has been centered around his beloved family. Survivors include his loving wife Gloria at home, four daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia "Patty" Sitterly and her husband Randy of Watertown, Beth Wood and her husband Dennis of Mohawk, Jennifer "Jen" Gleed of Herkimer, and Sarah Gleed and her fiance, James Willoughby, both of Ilion; five cherished grandchildren, Samantha Overacker, Nicholas and Matthew Wood, Kayla Sitterly and Chloe Gleed; his sister, Beverly DeRocco of Frankfort, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, William and Ruth Reel of Cold Brook; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and his nieces and nephews, including his niece Pamela Lindsay and her husband Kenneth of Frankfort. Bob was predeceased by his parents. Bob's funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 6, commencing at 2:30 p.m. at the Applegate and Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with the Rev. G. Robert Wells Jr., pastor of the Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church, officiating. Procession to Mohawk Cemetery for interment will follow the service. Family and friends are invited to visitation Tuesday, July 6, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. prior to Bob's funeral service at the funeral home. In lieu of floral offerings, please consider memorial contributions in Bob's name to the Frankfort Volunteer Ambulance Corps or the American Lung Association. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
