WELL! Mr. Robert R. "Bob" Caister, Jr. age 76, a lifelong area resident, passed away on July 11, 2024 after a brief illness. His passing occurred on HIS time, in HIS way and in the privacy and comfort of HIS own home!
Born in Utica on April 28, 1948, Robert was the son of the late Robert R. Caister, Sr. and J. Irene (Jenkins) Caister. He was raised and educated locally attending Catholic schools and graduating from Notre Dame High School. During this time he was active in the ROTC program. He then went on to further his studies at Niagara University. For many years, Robert worked for Oneida County Department of Social Services, a career from which he eventually retired.
Bob was a man of fierce independence who appreciated things done in his own specific ways. He enjoyed horse betting and spent countless hours at OTB where he made many friends. He also enjoyed a good drink, a game of golf or bowling and any time spent with his family. For those who knew Bob, they knew he was truly a character who enjoyed a good time and a laugh; always looking out for those who were dearest to him.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sheila Caister, with whom he shared a home; his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Robert Rocheleau; his grandchildren, Koda Boivin, Breonna Caister and Michael Caister; his siblings, Jacquelyn McCoy, Candace Jama, Michelle (Marc) Chilton, Sharon (Brian) Wadsworth and Richard (Mary) Caister; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family.
Aside from his parents, Robert was predeceased by his grandson, Zachery Joullian.
A graveside service, commemorating Bob's life, will take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 11:00AM at Crown Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Kirkland. All are welcome to attend and join in celebrating a life well lived.
