Robert G. Bruce

December 30, 1958 — December 11, 2024

LITTLE FALLS – Robert Bruce, 65, of Little Falls, New York, passed away on December 11th, 2024, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born on December 30th, 1958, in Bangor, Maine. He loved talking about how he traveled as a child with his family when his father was in the Army. Robert often talked about his time living in Japan and when his brother Bill and himself climbed Mount Fuji, making them the youngest Americans at that time to have climbed the mountain.

Looking back at Robert’s life, he enjoyed spending time with his family, including fishing and snowmobiling with his brothers-in-law and stepsons and spending all the time he could with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his loving wife. His family brought him so much happiness. Robert took immense pride in his career and life as a truck driver. He often traveled weekly - runs to California and back and always came back with so many stories. His wife Rebecca often went on these runs with him and enjoyed the memories they made.

Robert lived in Schoharie, New York on Oak Hill for a portion of his life and spent many days with his close friends and family, he also attended Schoharie school for some time. Robert also met his wife Rebecca through one of his long-time best friends, Tony Bender (Rebecca’s sister’s husband). Robert and Rebecca, from that time on, spent 35 years of their lives together.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife Rebecca (Rathbun) Bruce of Little Falls, New York, his grandchildren: Carly, Alyssa, and Austin of Little Falls, New York, his three great-grandchildren: Isabella, Lucas, and Greyson, his daughters and sons-in-law, Scot and Wendy Eckler of Little Falls, New York, and Ken and Susan Eckler of Little Falls, New York, his sister, Doreen Whittman of Iowa, his brother, William Bruce of Arkansas, his sister, Violet of California, and his brother, Brian Bruce of Arizona.

Robert battled the last few years of his life with COPD and Emphysema but kept his spirits high from being surrounded by his family, especially his great-grandchildren. Robert had a long, full, loving life and although we wished it could have been longer, his family enjoyed the time they had more than words could express.

There will be no calling hours or services per Robert’s requests. We thank everyone who took the time to love him and welcome him into their lives. Robert had one of the most genuine souls and if you knew him, you know his heart was made of pure gold. He will be missed is an understatement, but to say the very least he touched many lives and hearts in his time here with us and we are all very thankful to have been with him throughout his journey in life.

May you be at peace Poppy. God Bless.

Robert’s arrangements have been entrusted to The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls, New York (315) 823-2424, Enea, Ciaccia, & Applegate Funeral Directors. This obituary may be viewed online by visiting www.eneafamily.com on the Internet.
