Robert J. Brown Sr.

March 1, 1932 — October 24, 2023

LITTLE FALLS – Mr. Robert J. (Bob) Brown, Sr., age 91, of Douglas Street, Little Falls, New York, passed away on October 24, 2023.

Robert was born on March 1, 1932, in Little Falls, NY and he was the son of the late Edward Brown, Sr. and Mary (Metz) Donahue.

Robert was married to his beloved wife, Marion Brown, for 66 years. Robert and Marion first met in 1952 at the Little Falls Diner (now known as ‘That Little Place on Main’). They were married at St. Mary’s Church, in Little Falls, on June 25, 1955. Marion passed away on November 6, 2021.

Robert served our country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952 with the rank of Private 1st Class.

Robert was employed as a letter carrier for the United Sates Post Office in Little Falls for 26 years, retiring in 1988. Bob was a well-known and well-liked mailman in the city and he truly loved interacting with everyone on his routes as well as with his coworkers. He was later employed by the Masonic Care Community in Utica, retiring in 1994.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Susan and her husband, Kenneth Smith, of Austin, Texas; his sons, Robert Brown, Jr. and his fiancée, Alana Connolly, and John “Jack” Brown and his partner, Isabella Stone, all of Little Falls; his sister, Lois Oldfield, of Lewes, Delaware; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David Marosek and his wife, Barbara, of Baldwinsville; his sisters-in-law, Rosemary Brown, of Rochester, Beverly Brown, of Hudson, Ohio, Fay Marosek, of Little Falls and Sharon Marosek, of West Hartford, Connecticut; and his half-brother James Lynch, of Orlando, Florida.

In addition to his wife Marion, he was predeceased by his brothers, Edward Brown, Jr. and Richard Brown; and his sisters, Marilyn Garraty and Jeanne Servadio.

Robert’s children wish to express appreciation to Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Little Falls for the care and support of their father.

Bob was a good man, always smiling and in good spirits come what may. From a humble childhood, he kept his eyes on the horizon, meeting and marrying a wonderful woman, and working hard to provide a comfortable life for his cherished family. We will miss his smiles and laughter, and his many jokes (no matter how many times we’ve heard them!). Truly a man to emulate.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY, Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors.
