ILION – Robert E. “Bob” Cioch, age 82, of Herkimer and a longtime resident of Ilion, passed away on November 25, 2023, at Wynn Hospital.
Born on September 3, 1941, in Herkimer, Bob was the son of the late Joseph and Emeline (Finster) Cioch. He was a graduate of Whitesboro School, Class of 1960 and served our country with the United States Army and upon completion was honorably discharged.
His marriage to Geraldine “Jerry” Kennedy took place on January 21, 1967, in Frankfort, New York. Bob was a highly regarded machinist -planner with Remington Arms, a career that spanned over forty years. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed hunting and was an avid shooter. Personally, he never missed a sporting event for his children or grandchildren. He was truly devoted to family. At one time, he was a Babe Ruth Coach, in Ilion and he was one of the founders of Pee Wee Wrestling.
He is survived by his wife, Jerry; his two sons, Thomas Cioch and wife, Terri Jo, of Yorktown, VA and Carlton Cioch, of Ilion; grandchildren, Daniel Cioch and Elizabeth Reilly, of Ilion and Steven Cioch, of Ilion; and a soon to be great-grandchild on the way! He also has two sisters that survive, Sue and Mike Malloy and Frances Cioch; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
He was predeceased by a sister, Joan Treen; a brother, Joe Cioch; and most recently, his daughter-in-law, Missy.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend Bob’s calling hours, on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, located at 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 895-7722. Bob’s Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation. Procession will follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, in Frankfort.
